A Garden City man who murdered his mother with a necktie will be sentenced today. 

James Olsen admitted to strangling his bed-ridden 88-year-old mom in 2011.

 

Olsen's lawyer tried to convince the jury Olsen just "snapped" after caring for the dementia patient for years.

 

However in May the jury convicted Olsen of "depraved indifference" in the murder of his mom.

 

Olsen could get 15 years today.
