A Centereach man pleaded not guilty Monday to killing his wife in 2010.
Joseph Jones, 33, was arrested Friday night for allegedly killing Nicole Tessa.
Jones had told News 12 that Tessa vanished from their North Patchogue home after the couple had a fight. He said he didn't know what to tell their 3-year old son.
Tessa's remains were found days four days later in the woods near the couple's home.
Prosecutors say the two fought because Jones was allegedly selling his wife's prescription oxycodone pills, and that there are witnesses who saw Jones follow his wife out of the house, down the driveway and into a nearby wooded area.
News 12 spoke with Jones' current girlfriend, Melinda Oblatore, who says during the three years they've been together, he's been a father figure to her daughters and would never hurt anyone.
Oblatore attended court on Monday to support Jones.
Jones is being held without bail and is due back in court on April 11.
