Officials declared a Peconic home uninhabitable after police found a family living in deplorable conditions.
Police arrested Jeffrey Dobbins, of Riverhead, on Monday.
They say Dobbins violated an order of protection by living in the Henry Lane home with a woman and four children.
Authorities say the home was filled with sewage, mold and a week's worth of garbage.
The woman and her children are now living with a relative.
