Police say an East Quogue man drove high on heroin and slammed into a police cruiser in Riverhead Wednesday.
They say 37-year-old Jeremy Rosendahl, of East Quogue, crossed into oncoming traffic on Wall Street and hit the police vehicle.
Officials says Rosendahl was treated with the opiate antidote Narcan by EMS personnel and taken to the hospital.
The road was closed for about three hours as the crash was investigated, causing several local businesses in the area to shut down during the busy evening rush.
Rosendahl was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and possession of heroin.
He is being held on $10,000 bail and is due back in court Friday.
