Man accused of breaking into 2 Mastic Beach homes, assaulting women

The man accused of assaulting two Mastic Beach is expected before a judge for the second day in a row.
Derrick Clancy was in court on Sunday, but after some outbursts is headed back to court today.
Clancy is accused of assaulting two women in their Mastic Beach homes.
According to court documents, Clancy admitted to trying to rape one of the women and told authorities he punched her in the face a few times and that she “put up a good fight.
Before Clancy’s arrest, police released a sketch of the suspect.
Both of the victims were in their 70s. Clancy, 42, allegedly admitted that he got into one of the victim’s homes by smashing a brick through a window then using a step ladder..
Police say both assaults occurred in the overnight hours on Oct. 10 and Oct. 17. The women were alone at the time.
The victims, one of them 78 years old, were treated at the hospital.
Clancy is charged with two counts of burglary and is expected to be arraigned here in Central Islip today.
