A 12-year-old girl from Central Islip got the surprise of a lifetime Saturday morning.
Kelly Frick was a little overwhelmed with the outpouring of love arraigned by Suffolk County Make-A-Wish on Saturday.
Kelly was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition and other ailments. As a result, she has spent a lot of time in the hospital.
On Saturday, Kelly's special wish was to have a party with friends, a new MacBook, an iPad, bunk beds, plus a custom mural for her bedroom from Splashes of Hope.
All of Kelly's gifts were unveiled along with a surprise fire truck parade.
Originally, Kelly was supposed to go on a Disney cruise for her wish, but unfortunately the pandemic changed all of that. Kelly and her mom, Tammy Frick, say this was just as much fun.
Make-A-Wish says the pandemic has forced the re-evaluation of some wishes, but still they work hard to make them just as special.
"Just because we have this COVID pandemic going on, we are still granting these awesome wishes  just like Kelly's, and there are a lot more that we are granting as well," says Danielle Deery, of Make-A-Wish Suffolk County.
Suffolk County Make-A-Wish says they rely on local donations to make wishes come true for about 100 deserving kids each year. You can check out how to help the organization on its website.
