Pintail Coffee in Farmingdale brews its own coffee, and people across the country are getting a sip of it. However, the business’s mission is a lot stronger than its cup of joe - to help those struggling with food insecurity.

Zaki and Rahat Hossain founded Pintail Coffee. It's all roasted and packaged inside the Farmingdale facility. Their coffee beans are sourced from all over the globe. Zaki moved to the U.S. from Bangladesh in 1979. He was an engineer and was one of the creators of the K-Cup manufacturing machine for Keurig. He wanted to use his talents to start his own coffee company and do something good with it.

"People can drink Pintail Coffee at the same time they can feed the hungry," said Zaki Hossain. The mission is to help those struggling with food insecurity, with 100 percent of the profits donated to end hunger. They are partners with Feeding America and Island Harvest. "I cannot explain how it feels when you know that a child is not going to bed, not hungry -- it's a really, really good feeling," said Rahat Hossain.

"Making a difference for real families. It's something where everybody could buy a coffee and, if they're buying coffee, they can buy the best coffee and have a great tasting coffee while they are making a difference for food banks like Island Harvest," said Joe Barry, former Island Harvest chief development officer.
