Families of those in nursing homes, separated by a window
pane for almost a year, may be able to see their loved ones face to face very
soon.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Friday that the state Department
of Health will allow visitation of residents in nursing home facilities.
Specific guidelines are expected on Monday.
Owners and operators of nursing homes, such as Gurwin
Jewish, say they are getting ready this weekend for whatever guidelines the
state wants them to follow when it comes to visitation.
Stuart Almer, of Gurwin Healthcare System, says resuming
in-person visitation is great news.
He says what's still unclear is guidance as to what those
visits will look like for his 460 residents, where they will 'll be set up and the
duration of the visits.
