Several Long Islanders headed to Cantiague Park in Hicksville on Tuesday, hoping to catch a glimpse of some famous cricket players.

As News 12 has reported, the park is where players will be practicing.

Hopeful fans didn't see any players, but the mood wasn't dampened.

Piyush Sharma, of Bethpage, said it was a big deal that the World Cup was being held in New York.

Brijesh Bhavsar, of Roslyn, said, "It's very exciting."

Not everyone shared that enthusiasm.

Frequent golfer Pat Catalano expressed frustration that the practices at the park are impacting his tee times.

A spokesperson for the county executive confirmed that tee times are only after 4 p.m. from May 30 to June 11.
