A basketball fundraiser was held Saturday in Jericho to fight the rising trend of autism in young children. Jericho High School junior, Justin Resnick, organized the benefit tournament by combining his love for basketball and his desire to help children. Resnick formed a committee of students and gathered more than 220 players, from third-graders to seniors in high school to participate. The money raised at the event will allow the Ascent School for Children with Autism to continue its one student to one teacher ratio; a vital strategy within the schools curriculum. One out of every 150 kids born today in the U.S. is Autistic. Saturday?s event raised more than $100,000 towards the cause.
