Hundreds of Long Islanders trekked to Manhattan Monday to participate in a nationwide rally calling for immigration reform.
Tens of thousands gathered outside City Hall to voice their support for illegal immigrants just days after a bill that would have given undocumented workers a chance at citizenship failed to pass in the Senate. Many attendees say the United States was founded on immigration and those here should have a chance to become citizens.
Rallies were held in more than 60 cities across the nation in what is being called a National Day of Action for Immigrant Justice.
