Port Jefferson residents are stocking up for the first big snowstorm of the year.
"I have gotten a little food today," says Lina Lawrence. "Thinking we may be snowed in for a couple of days, got some treats, some fun things."
Port Jefferson Deputy Mayor Kathianne Snaden says everyone should hunker down to stay safe.
"Stay home if you can, charge up all your electronics, keep your phones charged up," Snaden says. "We understand there's supposed to be high winds with heavy snow, could cause some downed trees and power lines."
Snaden says Port Jefferson's biggest concern is icy roads causing dangerous conditions on the hills.
Snaden adds that they will work on areas near the hospitals and the emergency room so they can ensure everyone can stay safe.
