Many Long Island travelers hit a snag flying home into LaGuardia and other major airports Monday.
LaGuardia reported delays of up to three hours and many cancellations. Industry experts blame mostly rain and fog, but added the situation was made worse by a glut of travelers who waited until the Monday following Thanksgiving to return home.
While some people were noticeably irritated by the long wait, others took it in stride. "[Attitudes are] pretty joyful," said Josh Allen. "Everyone's attitude around the holidays is 'it could always be worse.'"
Allen said the pilot did a good job of keeping passengers informed on the runway.
The exodus from New York-area airports was less chaotic, by most accounts. AAA estimated about 4.7 million Americans were expected to fly during the holiday.
