Just over a year after Isaias struck and left power outages across the Island, Ida's powerful winds and heavy rainfall once again left many without electricity.
At the height of the storm around 2 a.m., PSEG says over 13,000 people were without power.
Customers in Eatons Neck are cautiously optimistic they will have power back by the end of the day.  One Eatons Neck resident recalled losing his power last year after Tropical Storm Isaias.
"Last year it took longer than it did for Sandy to get power back," says Phillip Beamer. "I hope not to repeat that because we got power back in about five to six days.
Some in Lloyd Neck are not as confident.
"Yeah, we have no power, and they said it's going to be a series of days at minimum," says Brian McGuinness.
PSEG trucks have been out working to restore power.
The utility says it hopes to have most of the lights back on by the end of the day, but it does expect some places to take a little longer.
