Young Long Islanders took a stand against gun violence in Long Beach Tuesday.
Organizers say the event featured the next generation of leaders speaking at the Long Beach MLK Center in the week of mass shootings in Buffalo and Texas.
"We're gonna hear from our young people, these young voices," says Sergio Argueta, of STRONG Youth. "What are they experiencing, what are they going through? So we can start really hearing their needs and concerns, so that we can uplift them, so that they can demand the justice and equality that we desperately need."
Students as young as 7 stood at a podium in front of their peers to talk about how they are feeling.
Many of the children say they are scared to go to school.
