A Long Island woman who was stuck in Dubai because of the conflict in Iran is back home.

Donna Caltabiano, 72, of Floral Park, says she had to shelter-in-place for a week at a hotel after her flight was canceled several times.

Caltabiano tells News 12, "It was hard to think of it as being a war. Although, now that I'm home, I say to myself yeah, it was. There were rockets going off and being shot down."

She finally landed at JFK Airport on Sunday morning.

As News 12 reported, the avid traveler was among tens of thousands of people who were left stranded across the Middle East when the war began.

The State Department had urged Americans to return to the U.S. following the strikes, but nearly 20,000 flights, in and out of the area, were canceled in the following days.
