Record-breaking temperatures are making it feel more like mid-July instead of early October across Long Island – and temps are still rising!
News 12 meteorologists say there are new daily record highs for several areas.
Islip’s new record high is 86 degrees, old record was 84. Shirley’s new record is 86 degrees, old was 82. Westhampton Beach is seeing 86 degrees, its old record was 81. And Farmingdale’s new record is 85 compared to 84.
The remainder of the day will stay hot and humid, with partly sunny skies.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be developing between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Tonight will see cloudy skies with scattered showers, breezy and turning colder -- lows 50 to 55.
Then cloudy skies and chilly weather return for Thursday, with on and off showers.
