Long Island kicks off summer festivals, main street events

Tourism officials say over the next few months there are more than 200 festivals and events across the island - all of which help support local mom-and-pop businesses.

Friday kicks off Riverhead's Alive on 25 event on its Main Street featuring fireworks.

Joe Fortuna, from the Nutty Irishman, in Farmingdale says the villages Music on Main event starting next week is a real boon to his business.
Bay Shore and Patchogue will also feature evening events on its main streets.
