Black Friday may be over, but the holiday shopping has just begun for people all across Long Island.
Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City was packed Saturday with shoppers looking for bargains. One shopper from Seaford grabbed up an item that usually sells for $200 for a mere $71. The deep discounts over the Thanksgiving weekend lured shoppers to the stores. Many say the super sales will help them stretch their holiday budget.
Many stores have plans to keep the shopping momentum going by offering bonus bucks with purchases, extended hours and low markups.
A lot of major stores say they have bigger crowds this Thanksgiving weekend than one year ago. That's good news since most analysts expect this year's holiday sales to be the weakest in five years.
