Roughly 2,000 doses of the new swine flu vaccine were delivered to Long Island hospitals and doctors? offices Monday.
The vaccine is in nasal spray form and is not recommended for everyone. Nassau County Health Commissioner Dr. Maria Torroella Carney says pregnant women, children under 2 and anyone with asthma should not get that form of the vaccine.
An injection is not yet available. Experts say that vaccine can be taken by a majority of the population. Children under 9 will need two doses, three weeks apart.
State health officials say everyone who wants the vaccine should be able to get it eventually.
