The Long Island Ducks are kicking off their season Friday, playing for the first time since 2019 with fans in the stands.
The defending Atlantic League Champions will kick off their 2021 season tomorrow at Fairfield Properties Ballpark in Central Islip against the Lexington Legends.
Team manager and former New York Met Wally Backman says the players are ready to get back on the field.
"The one word is excitement. The players are excited to get back," says Backman. "It's been something like 605 days since we've played so it's been a long time. I'm excited. I think everyone's excited to get back. We want to see the fans again."
Unvaccinated areas at the field will be at 33% capacity with masks. The vaccinated sections will be at full capacity and those fans won't have to wear masks.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Click here to get tickets.
