Residents in Long Beach are outraged about a proposal to build two 12-story apartment buildings.
News 12 Long Island has learned the developer hopes to construct the luxury condos on the water front at the former site of the Hebrew Academy.
Condos would be priced between $800,000 and over $1 million.
Last night, the West End Neighbors Civic Association met with the developer and the real sticking point was the height of buildings.
The developer originally wanted two 15-story towers, but reduced it to 12.
The developer will need a variance from the city of Long Beach since the area is only approved for four story buildings.
