? Police in Long Beach arrested two U.S. Postal Service employees Tuesday in connection to an alleged drug trafficking plot.
According to police, the drugs were mailed from California to legitimate Long Beach addresses. One of the suspects worked in the back room of the post office and would make sure the packages containing drugs were put on the mail route of the second suspect. After their shifts were over, police say the sorter would get the packages back from the mail carrier and deliver them to the drug distributor.
The people at the Long Beach addresses were not connected to the alleged plot in any way.
The bust was a combined effort with the DEA, U.S. Postal Service and Long Beach Police Department. Investigators say they recovered 50 pounds of marijuana with a street value of about $50,000. According to police, only marijuana was involved in the plot.
