A Ronkonkoma man died after the taxi he was driving was struck by a train in Manorville, according to the MTA.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver from East End Transportation went around the crossing gates that were in the down position with lights flashing and bells sounding.

The MTA says the taxi appeared to have stopped on the tracks ahead of an approaching eastbound LIRR train traveling from Ronkonkoma to Greenport, which struck the vehicle east of the Yaphank station, causing major damage to the vehicle.
There were about 50 passengers on board during the incident. No one on the train was injured.
The victim identified as 49-year-old Daniel Seagren was pronounced dead at Peconic Bay Hospital.
