The Long Island Rail Road is expected to return to a normal schedule Tuesday.

The change follows the completion of repairs at Penn Station over the summer, deemed the so-called "Summer of Hell."

The temporary discounted fares for LIRR riders will end, and so will the additional bus and ferry services for ticket-holders.

The MTA warned riders to brace for over-crowed trains, even urging them to work from home.

"You make due, you come a little earlier and you try to catch the train when you have to," says Nick Morgasen, of Plainview.

Riders say they expected to see many delays and cancellations, but the "Summer of Hell" just wasn't what they thought it would be. 

"It was actually not too bad," says Leo Tastro. "I felt like there was less people on it. It was actually a lot smoother."

Long Island Rail Road officials say they expect to have a 93 percent on-time rate when they return to a full schedule.
