The Long Island Rail Road says an unauthorized person was struck by a train Wednesday afternoon in Port Jefferson.
An eastbound train struck the person west of the Port Jefferson LIRR station, near Baylis Avenue. News 12 is told the incident occurred at around 3:20 p.m.
The person was taken to a local hospital at around 3:45 p.m. There is no word on their condition.
Service was temporarily suspended between Stony Brook and Port Jefferson, but has since been restored.
