(AP) - State prosecutors have arrested alongtime Long Island Rail Road employee on corruption chargeslinked to the recent disability pension scandal.
Fred Kreuder has been charged with official misconduct andreceiving reward for official misconduct. Attorney General AndrewCuomo announced the arrest on Monday.
The 23-year employee was suspended last month by the railroadamid allegations that while on duty at the railroad, he wasadvising co-workers on the proper way to file disability formsafter they retire.
Four separate investigations are under way after it was reportedin September that more than 90 percent of the LIRR's retireesapplied for disability payments - and nearly 98 percent wereapproved.
An attorney for Kreuder did not immediately return a telephonecall seeking comment.
