The Long Island Rail Road experienced delays and cancellations throughout the day Monday due to three separate incidents.
Service was disrupted on the Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches of the LIRR after a train struck a trespasser, according to the railroad.
Service was suspended between Hicksville and Mineola in both directions of the branches after the incident west of Hicksville around 1 p.m. Monday.
The condition of the victim is unknown at this time.
Customers can anticipate some residual delays of up to an hour and cancellations as a result of the incident.
Earlier Monday afternoon, a diesel train broke down at the Islip train station, causing at least two trains to be canceled on the Montauk branch.
There were also westbound delays on the Ronkonkoma branch west of Hicksville due to a disabled vehicle on the tracked near the Pinelawn Station.
