The Long Island Rail Road says to expect residual delays out of Penn Station and Atlantic Terminal due to earlier police activity near New Hyde Park.
Riders on the Huntington/Port Jefferson, Ronkonkoma and Oyster Bay branches may experience delays of up to 30 minutes. Riders on all other lines may experience delays of up to 15 minutes due to congestion at Jamaica.
LIRR officials say the earlier police activity stemmed from an incident involving a train engineer who believed his train might have struck some debris. However, nothing was found on the tracks.
The LIRR says it expects trains to be running on or close to schedule again soon.
