Long Island Rail Road officials say trains are on schedule after a collision Thursday morning. According to a LIRR spokesperson, the accident happened around 8:15 a.m. just east of the Jamaica Station. An eastbound Babylon train and eastbound Hempstead train both left from the same track and eventually sideswiped each other. While one woman did suffer minor injuries, the other passengers were walked back to the Jamaica platform where they continued their commute. The accident stopped eastbound trains leaving Jamaica for about 30 minutes. Service has resumed and an investigation is pending. An LIRR spokesperson said human or operator error is the most likely cause. Related Story
