Officials say air conditioners are cranking across Long Island and up the east coast due to the heat wave.

The demand for power is off the charts, and the temperature continues climbing into the 90s. Officials say New York City is on the verge of setting a new power usage record.

Con Edison and LIPA both say they have enough staff and are ready to respond to any disruptions.

So far there have been isolated outages across Long Island.
