A flood-prone area on the South Shore will soon be getting check valves installed in an effort to help alleviate constant flooding issues.
The village of Lindenhurst says it will be installing 15 check valves this fall. Each check valve costs about $4,000 to buy and install.
Officials say they were able to buy the check valves after receiving long-awaited funds from New York state.
The village says it still needs to purchase 15 more to combat the constant flooding.
