The Lindencrest Diner has closed its doors following 39 years of business in Lindenhurst.

A note left on the front door of the business states that the restaurant closed due to economic hardships.

"I've been coming here forever. The people are nice, and it's a great atmosphere for good breakfast in the mornings. I am going to miss it," says Buddy Lane, a longtime customer of 20 years.

New York State Restaurant Association president Melissa Fleischut says a number of eateries haven't recovered from the financial hardship of the pandemic.

"It's the lingering effect of COVID, as well as the current economy. Less families are choosing to dine out because everyday prices are higher," explains Fleischut.

Lindercrest Diner thanked the community and staff for making its operation a long running success.
