Long Islanders are trying to beat the heat as temperatures soar this week.
News 12 Long Island's Christina Regnault was in East Meadow Tuesday where Hempstead Town extended pool hours to help residents cool off.
Officials are urging people, especially young children, those who exercise outdoors, those involved in vigorous outdoor work and those who have respiratory disease to consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity.
Temperatures are expected to be in the 80s and 90s this week.
