Family and friends of a firefighter killed in the September 11th attacks are in Washington, D.C. Wednesday to push for a proposal that will honor the dead with a national day of community service.Jay Winuk hopes to spread his brother Glenn?s giving nature by having others give of themselves on the same day Glenn lost his life at the World Trade Center. Winuk set up a Web site where people can sign up to commemorate victims. They pledge on the site to perform a single act of kindness on 9/11. So far, 100,000 people have joined the effort. Glenn Winuk?s friends and family say they are hoping the day will become an official holiday, dedicated to community service.Winuk, a 20-year Jericho Fire Department veteran, rushed to the city to help in 9/11 rescue efforts. He died when the south tower collapsed.
