After nearly a week of mass cancellations at John F. Kennedy International Airport, Long Island travelers are relieved airline jetBlue plans to operate normally Tuesday.
Since the Valentine's Day snowstorm, jetBlue has canceled more than 100 flights daily. Throughout the past week, the airline informed customers of cancellations after hours of delays at the terminal. Monday, jetBlue contacted travelers before they arrived at the airport. Still, 139 of the carrier's approximately 600 flights were called off, once again because of flight crew time restrictions.
The company's CEO and founder says he's humiliated. JetBlue plans to develop a customer's bill of rights that will hold the company financially responsible should a similar situation arise in the future. In the meantime, most travelers on canceled flights will receive a full refund and a voucher for an additional roundtrip ticket. JetBlue expects nearly 100 percent of Tuesday's flights to run on time.
