Just five days after the last snowstorm, Long Island residents felt spring in the air as temperatures climbed into the upper 50s Saturday.
"[In] this is weather, you have to come down to the beach, enjoy the sun, the waves and the sand," says Jim Duggan, of Williston Park, who spent the day collecting seashells with his children.
Others celebrated the warm weather by shedding their winter coats and donning T-shirts for a stroll on the boardwalk.
"I'll take this weather any day," says Eileen McAdams, of Shoreham. "I think we're all done with the snow, and hopefully, it'll melt and get out of here."
The warm weather is expected to linger for the next several days. Spring officially starts March 21.
