The attorney for a Long Island college student accused of raping a North Carolina stripper says new twists and turns in the case Friday point to his client?s innocence.A North Carolina judge ordered the woman to undergo a paternity test. The judge wants to determine whether Garden City resident Colin Finnerty, or one of two others accused of raping her, fathered her child even though both prosecutors and the defense agree the timing is impossible. The defense also revealed that DNA material taken from the woman?s underwear and from inside her body matched several men, none of whom are Duke Lacrosse players. Finnerty?s defense attorney, Joseph Cheshire, says the prosecutor no longer has a case. He says the woman has told so many different stories prosecutors will have a hard time with a jury. If there is a trial, it?s expected to begin this spring. Cheshire has filed a motion asking that the case be moved from Durham County to find unbiased jurors. Finnerty has proclaimed his innocence from the start, but admitted the woman was hired to strip for the team.Related Information
