Long Island residents are coming together to honor a hero teacher from Suffolk who died while shielding his students in the Parkland school shooting.
Family and friends will pay tribute to Scott Beigel at Temple Beth Torah in Melville this afternoon.
As News 12 reported, the teacher grew up in Dix Hills before moving to Florida.
Monday would've been Scott's 36th birthday.
