Long Island musician Bobby Digital raised more than $20,000 for Southside Hospital’s COVID-19 relief fund.
The musician offered personalized Mother’s Day videos that featured a live performance of a song of their choice.
Bobby Digital says the idea came as a tribute to his own mother who is a nurse. He says 25% of proceeds from the personalized videos were donated to the hospital’s relief fund.
The musician also hosted a virtual Mother’s Day concert from his basement, or as he calls it “Bobby’s Basement Boogaloo.” All proceeds from the virtual concert were donated to the hospital’s COVID-19 fund.
The effort got a major boost when local philanthropists Patty and Dwayne Diesu heard about the concert and offered to match 100% of the donations generated.
Bobby Digital plans to keep the concept going and has pledged to continue to donate 25% of his proceeds from personalized videos to the fund.
He plans to do another live stream for Father’s Day, where 100% of proceeds will go to the fund.
