Local leaders are pushing to get a proposed bill that would help find missing adults passed into law.
"Gabby's Law" would implement a Teal Alert to the public for missing adults, including victims of domestic violence who are believed to be in danger.
It was introduced in honor of Blue Point native Gabby Petito whose body was found in September 2021 in a Wyoming Park. Her fiancée, Brian Laudrie's (LAUNDRIE??) body was found a month later in a Florida preserve with a note confessing to killing Petito.
There is no current emergency alert system in place in New York for missing adults between the ages of 18 and 64.
