A lawyer from Roslyn is facing criminal charges after prosecutors say he set up phony adoptions and stole money from prospective parents.
Kevin Cohen, founder of the non-profit group Adoption Annex, was arrested Friday morning. Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice says Cohen received thousands of dollars from couples by promising them babies. In some cases, Rice says, Cohen forged medical records.
Deborah and Milton Josephs say Cohen told them their baby was being born out of state. They say they got suspicious when the stories kept coming.
Rice says there may be other victims and is urging them to call her office.
