A list of bridges ordered for inspection by Gov. Spitzer does not include any Long Island structures.
The governor ordered the inspection of 49 bridges Thursday following the collapse of a Minnesota bridge. That collapse has claimed at least five lives so far.
The bridges to be inspected all have similar structures to the collapsed Minnesota bridge, but no Long Island bridges share the same deck truss structure.
Officials expect the emergency inspections ordered by Spitzer to take approximately a month to complete.
Despite not making Spitzer's list, the Department of Transportation said that each of Long Island's 701 bridges are inspected twice a year.
