LI boaters say East Rockaway Inlet has become dangerous to navigate
Fishermen say shallow water in the middle of the channel combined with incorrect buoy placement has created dangerous conditions.

Long Island fishermen are sounding the alarm about the East Rockaway Inlet.
They say the waterway is becoming dangerous to navigate due to shallow water from sand dunes and incorrect or even missing buoys that indicate the best way to get through.
One Oceanside fishermen says another boater hit a dune earlier the month, bringing the boat to a sudden and abrupt stop.
He says if people drive their boats through buoys the way they are instructed, those boats could run aground. He also says the dunes can cause waves that can cause boats to tip over.
They're asking for the U.S. Coast Guard to either remove the dunes or place the buoys in the correct location.
