Long Island beaches will also feel the effects of Hurricane Irma.
Officials say there are dangerous rip currents and swells as high as eight feet at state beaches.
Swimming was restricted Saturday at Jones Beach and Robert Moses and was prohibited at Hither Hills in Montauk.
News 12 is told the rough conditions will continue for the next few days.
"We're warning everyone not to go into the water unless there are protected lifeguard areas that you're going into and you heed the direction of the lifeguards," says New York State Parks official George Goreman
Lifeguards will be on duty at state beaches until Sept. 17.
