(11/02/06) MANHATTAN - Hundreds of 9/11 victims' family members, including many from Long Island, met at the World Trade Center site to once again demand another search for human remains.
Family members held up signs and pictures of their lost loved ones as speakers called on Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NYC) to search again for victims. Some attendees claim Bloomberg initially rushed the recovery efforts. After more remains were recently found five years after the attack, family members say construction should be halted until a thorough sweep of the area is completed.
Attendees also say Congress or an independent third party should intervene and conduct the search because of the city's unwillingness to bend on the issue. Several family members say they are tired of repeatedly fighting the same battle.
