Lawrence High School substitute teacher accused of inappropriately touching student arrested
A substitute teacher at Lawrence High School in Cedarhurst has been arrested, accused by a student of inappropriately touching them, Nassau County police said.
According to investigators, police responded to the school yesterday around 1 p.m. after the student victim told an administrator about the alleged interaction.
Lawrence school district officials said they immediately contacted the police.
After investigating, Nassau County police arrested Constantine Theodosiou, 59.
The school district said it was limited to what it could say publicly, but confirmed the alleged incident happened on school grounds and that Theodosiou works as a substitute teacher.
"We remain committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all students," Lawrence Superintendent of Schools Ann Pederson wrote in part of a letter to the community. "Additional information will be shared...as it becomes available and appropriate to do so."
Nassau County police charged Theodosiou with forcible touching, endangering the welfare of a child and third degree sexual abuse.
The Cedarhurst man is scheduled to face a judge for his arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead later this morning.
