U.S. Customs and
Border Protection is working with the NYPD and DEA to get guns off the streets.
Officials held a news conference
at John F. Kennedy International Airport this morning to discuss
combined efforts in stopping the flow of illegal firearms and keeping them out
of our neighborhoods.
“Our communities increasingly live in fear. Fear of the next shot, fear
of the next stray bullet. Law enforcement must work in lock step to not only
remove these weapons from the street, these weapons that cause fear and
violence, but to also stop them from ever entering our neighborhoods," say Kevin
O'Malley Jr., assistant special agent in charge for Homeland Security
Investigations.
The CBP emphasized
the importance of working with its partners to ensure that weapons
never get to the streets.
