The father of fallen NYPD Detective Brian Moore, of Massapequa, spoke with News 12 about Tuesday's shooting that claimed the life of another officer.
Authorities say that 33-year-old Officer Randolph Holder was shot in the head in Harlem while pursuing a suspect who had allegedly stolen a bicycle.
Holder became the fourth NYPD officer killed in the past 11 months.
"I couldn't even sleep last night. It brought me right back to May when Brian was shot," says Ray Moore. "Here's another young officer shot in the face. I'm pretty sure he even graduated with Brian in Brian's academy class."
Ray Moore is a 20-year retired sergeant with the NYPD.
"To think that his father is going to be going through what I've been going through the last six months, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy," says Moore.
According to the Officer Down Memorial website, 101 officers died in the line of duty nationwide so far this year. A total of 31 were gun-related deaths.
