Suffolk County police say a man in Wyandanch died Thursday after officers subdued and handcuffed him when he was acting "irrational" and "agitated."
They say it happened at around 10:20 a.m. when police received a 911 call reporting a man, possibly intoxicated, lying on the ground on Merritt Avenue.
When police arrived, the man, who was naked from his waist down, was banging on a business window.
Officers subdued the man and handcuffed him.
Police say the man became unresponsive, so officers, along with rescue personnel, performed CPR.
The man was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.
The New York State Attorney General's Office was notified and responded to the scene.
